In 2003 the playful but certainly convincing a cappella quartet JimJamMurMur received first award International contest for Vocal Ensembles in tampere, Finland. As a group of four experienced songwriters, JimJamMurMur mainly rely on self-written music or occasionally arrange own versions of suitable jazz standards. The quartet´s capacity for versatile voice techniques and fluent improvisation is exceptional for a vocal group, keeping in mind that its members Johanna Iivanainen, Mirja Mäkelä, Jenny Robson and Mia Simanainen are Finlands top jazz songstresses and soloists in their own right. JimJamMurMur have recently been braking borders between jazz and children´s music with their concert project "Lauluhilloa Lapsenmielisille", which features texts of wellknown children´s poets composed and arranged by the quartet. The music released on the similarly titled album in February 2005. As one of the recent tour highlights JimJamMurMur gave concerts in Mexico in April, performing among others at the jazz festivals of Mexico City and San Luis Potosi. Buy cd at www.cdbaby.com
